Pumpkin soup
Made my first lot of pumpkin soup on Saturday. Yummy!
Used the smallest pumpkin, weighing in at 3.7 kilos! I used half of it for soup to serve 6. So, that means that my smallest pumpkin will make soup for 12. FAB!!

Re: Pumpkins
Yes, we love pumpkin soup! Think I'll keep them in the greenhouse and use them 'fresh' each time. I'll 'soup' a whole one each time - that way I won't need to buy another freezer!!!!! I haven't fed The Plot anything fancy. It had laid fallow for a couple of years before I got it - maybe that is why...

7.5 Kilo Courgette
I came back from holiday to find this Whopper on my plot. It's vital statistics were:- Weight:7.5 kilos, Length:21 inches, Girth:15.5 inches.
I gave it to a friend who took 3 meals for herself and her husband to get through it all.

Re: Should I harvest my pumpkins NOW?
Thanks Primrose. My thoughts exactly. My plot neighbour had all his ripe tomatoes taken from his greenhouse a week ago - no vandalism, just ripe tomatoes missing! I've managed to do really well this year despite beginning a little late. Some things haven't worked perfectly, such as the aubergines wh...

Should I harvest my pumpkins NOW?
They are all mostly orange now, and the plants have died back. Should I harvest them now, and bring them home to cure in the greenhouse?

Re: The greenhouse IS UP!!
Yes, it's at home. At the top of the garden. I'd love to be able to have a heated propogator, but I think that could be an Ask Too Far. It's taken years of working on Mr Piglet for him to agree to a greenhouse at all. Still, never say never!

Re: ...And the harvest begins!
I think you may well be right!
Came home with a lovely courgette, some peas, lots of french beans. Even Mr Piglet liked the courgette (& that's saying something!), french beans were lovely, and the peas were far far tastier than even the Birds Eye ones (other pea providers are available!).
