White Beetrrot

I've started to harvest my Detroit beetroot and a few of them are white instead of red. Any idea why?

Potatoes in pots

I want to try growing potatoes in pots, but I'm a bit confused. The recommendation is to put 3 seed potatoes in each pot or growing bag, but that means the distance between tubers is much less than if they were in open ground. Why is this? It seems to me that each bag should only have one tuber insi...

We start our tomatoes and peppers in small pots by a south facing window. We put a sheet of foil behind the pots to reflect the light so that the seedlings don't stretch towards the window. It has always worked for us.

Re: Cauliflowers & Swedes

Thanks for the help, guys. I'll make sure that I feed them well and trample the ground before planting out. Will this also prevent Swedes looking like carrots?

Cauliflowers & Swedes

I need help. Brassicas generally do well on my plot, but I can't grow cauli or swede. My cauli form small, loose heads (if at all) and swedes don't swell - they look like purple carrots sticking out of the ground. What am I doing wrong?
