Re: Don't panic.
Having not been online for quite some time (family from USA living with us for two months) I got quite a shock when I came on here today. Wow! I thought I had somehow got onto another forum by mistake. Having just perused this topic, I feel a bit more reassured but..... being one of those folks who ...

Re: Clouds and sunsets
Yes, thanks Geoff, I do use the Heavens Above site. I'm on a couple of Astronomy pages and going by what someone advised me I think I did see the ISS earlier this year...though I didn't realise it at the time.

I agree with all of the above. The wonders of nature never cease to fascinate and entertain me.... Fungi emerging and opening their caps. The beautiful garden spiders on their webs and the arrival of the house spiders. The jewel like berries in the hedgerows. The arrival of our winter avian visitors...

Re: We've been deluding ourselves
In my previous house, I had a hedgehog visiting nightly and read that cat food was ideal for them. So....I put some out and was thrilled to find it had gone the following day. I continued to put it out every night until after around a week, I heard a commotion in the garden. Yep, you guessed it. The...

Re: Late Summer Bits and Bobs.
We have been extremely busy decorating the house and preparing for my Stepson, his wife and little girl arriving from the USA to live in the UK. They will be living with us until they get themselves sorted out. My husband is over the moon, as he hasn't seen his son since we went over to the US for t...

Re: Copper tape collars!
Beer traps really work for slugs. We found out by accident when we left a beer can with an inch of beer in it by the step on the patio. Later, that night, I couldn't believe my eyes....several big fat brown slugs were climbing over each other to get into the can, with more homing in. We stuck more c...

Re: Major red spider mite infestation in polytunnel
Hello Interex. I had a really heavy infestation Of the little blighters in my greenhouse. The first time, I didn't recognise what the problem was until it was too late, trying to work out why the cucumber plants weren't thriving and the leaves going a funny colour. When the penny dropped and I realis...

Re: Out of touch or what!
I have always hankered after living in the country...."when we win the lottery". Having reached 62 and retirement next year (my husband retired this April) I realise that even if we did win a fortune, moving to a rural area would not be sensible at our time of life, for all the reasons Pri...

Paddy had his pal round for lunch. He opened the fridge and said;
"Why have you got an empty milk bottle in the fridge?"
Paddy gave him a look.
"In case somebody wants a black coffee, you thick bugger".
boom boom!

Re: Milk Prices
Thank you Barney, for this information. My husband was saying that there is more to this than we're being told. He worked on farms from being a lad until his mid teens....he says he doesn't know any "poor" farmers. In fact, quite the opposite....two of the ones he worked for ended up milli...

Oh my word...such beauty. Thank you for sharing this Primrose.
If there is ever a time that I'm happy about the advances in technology, it's when I watch films like this. The photography is amazing, down to the last grain of pollen.
