Stephen, I clicked on your 'Brogdale' link and lost the forum, could not get back to it using any way I know. Had to close the browser.

Re: Solstice Greetings

I suppose in Australia the effect of the two soltices are just reversed and do mean something. But do the Winter and Summer Soltices mean anything to people who live on the equator?

Re: Life can be sweet when selfish b---s get what they deserve.

We paint bridges for a living and get this... Two chavs (wearing white track suit bottoms and white hoodies - looking good!!!!) were mouthing off to our painters working on a beautiful structure in Exeter. They were jeering, taking the pi**, shouting 'you missed a bit' and a lot worse. They ran away...

Re: Life can be sweet when selfish b---s get what they deserve.

Bus drivers round here are the best at parking a car in if said car has been dumb enough to stop in the bus bay. It's great to watch. When they do it, it causes the traffic to queue up & down the main street, as the bus is forced to stop in the middle of the road if it can't get into the bus bay...

Sounds like a nice escapism session is planned.
Enjoy!

I see all the makings of an 'Grumpy Old Farts' club here... I too am a trainee GOF member. I feel the force getting stronger everyday!

Re: rats

Sadly my springer 'Sassy' came to the end of her very active fun filled life 6 mths ago. She would kill about 3-4 rats a week when we lived by the river. So she did her bit! :D

Re: rats

My daughters friends spend many sessions out in the country dealing with pests (It keeps them off the street and out of the pub, they love it). They do it for sport and as part of their work. They are young farmers and are members of the nation wide 'Young Farmers' club. These lads have the skills, ...

More Info: I am pretty sure I got these seeds free from KG. It has turned out to be a healthy, disease free, frost tolerant, prolific and useful herb. http://www.flickr.com/photos/garden_serf/3114799743/

Re: Corriander fighting the frosts

Thats helpful, thankyou Sally. I did not think of it as having the possibility of acting like a biennial. I do like letting some carrots flower in that way to add interest and attract insects. When planted: It was planted as a clump of 10 ish v.little plants (grown from T&M seeds on kitchen wind...

Re: Growing salad leaves in the house

To microgreens size only. When I tried for longer they just tended to stretch for the light and go leggy. I have a very light kitchen windowsill. The warmth didn't seem to affect them, the lack of light definitely did. The mixed leaves outside in my mini plastic greenhouse always do better. :)
