Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

Took the dog down on the bus today as had to find an alternative route as once again there was an incident in the woods with an aggressive dog, no puncture injury on her but he did get a mouth full of fur. It is just stressing her; (& me), too much to go there now as it's becoming too frequent &...

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

Lovely morning on the plot, weak sun but not freezing or raining, but of course the rain did come later but luckily I was down early so home before that. I didn't get as much done as I would have liked as I had one of those days looking for where I put things 10 mins ago, but I did sow a few things ...

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

I noted a reference from one of the seed companies e-mails that 'official spring' starts on the 20th March. Just giving you a heads up OH! ;)

Mind I didn't know it had an official start date, just thought it was by month, but checked online & it does have a birthday!

Re: Products I've liked

I generally make my own using tinned chickpeas as like it pretty garlicky & not too runny; actually mostly prefer to see some wee chopped up bits in it. I find the supermarket ones over processed & basically sloppy. Don't have a Tesco close by though to compare.

Re: Japanese knotweed

I don't blame you for your diligence. Some councils keep records of areas infested with Japanese Knotweed, but unknown if it is generalised to all councils or just some; & some are also the exterminators. (It can be successfully nuked)! Maybe contact the council where the house is or another alt...

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

The rain didn't come as expected but I didn't go down as it looked gloomy & likely to. Did some clearing out & just caught the charity bag pick up & they got more than expected as I tackled Mr's wardrobe, well some of it. It is role reversal at ours as Mr is the one who has all the cloth...

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

My new wire netting to dog proof the onions fitted into my rucksack so decided to do that little job & release some mesh covering for the other beds next on the sow/plant out list. I only weeded the onions about a month ago & all looking fine & hearty but two beds only had about 3 plants...

Re: Incy wincy

I bought mine from one of those older persons shops with mobility scooters, riser chairs & electric wheelchairs & the like. Was not expensive. It was quite interesting looking at all the gadgets to help the elderly, but of course you can just get them on line now & probably a lot cheaper!

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

Complete brain drain today following up car mishap. Nearly 3hrs on the phone with the insurance people as when I rang & notified them the police were releasing the vehicle so they could assess it, the claim number they gave me was not registered so back to square 1! Anyway outcome is it will lik...

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

I was overoptimistic with my to do list but did get the spud bed dug & planted some Jazzy,s. Got way more Jazzy's than expected so I moved the paths a bit to leave a wider bed along the fence thinking I will plant some of the extra's along here for digging up completely as earlies so the others ...

Re: Incy wincy

Have the same problem clearing out the shed twice a year. My huge spiders in there don't run away but they tuck back into their little crevice then come out to inspect my handiwork & just stare at me like daring me to clear their area. I just leave them as no big webs & if I ever have to get...

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

Didn't go down today as alternating days until my back behaves, but it is much better. I experimented on how I get home from the plot & tried going over the over bridge via the ramp, rather than the stairs & I think it was better even if longer & I had to dodge a few mobility scooters &a...
