have you thought of investing in a BOKASHI composter? you put all kitchen waste - cooked stuff, meat too - sprinkle a special bran on top, seal it for 2 weeks then shove it into your compost bin. its a small bucket which you can keep inside if you wish - no smells. it accelerates your regular compos...

thanks paul - no i haven't got the roots restricted - this is one of the reasons i want to move it. i'm just wondering how far the roots will have spread and whether it will recover from the trauma of root disturbance

my fig tree has been in the ground about two years and is 5 ft high and similar size spread. (no ripe figs yet but plenty of unripe and embryos at the moment) i would like to move it as it will soon be too big for its position. any thoughts as to when and whether there might be a problem?
