Re: Late Spring Bits and Bobs.

I wanted it to rain, but not sideways! It's absolutely ghastly here, blowing a gale with 45 degree rain. I am happy the garden will get a good drink, but I planted out those poor cobra beans yesterday, they will get a right old battering over night I think.

Thankyou Monika, I'll have a look out for it tomorrow.

Re: Early Spring Bits and Bobs

Does anyone know if weeping willow catkins are fragrant? I keep getting a strong hit of 1970's ambre solaire sun tan oil on my river walks, and this is the only thing I can see that it might be?

Re: Rain gauge

Primrose, there's a mouldable adhesive called 'Sugru' it comes in different colours, it is silicone based. Basically, you mould it and squish it to fix things, and it sets as a flexible rubber. I've used it to mend the shelf bar in my fridge door.

My cobras are going back inside tonight. They are about 8" tall, they'll be flopping over very soon.

Re: Early Spring Bits and Bobs

yes, every morning, I go to open the greenhouse (I am off to work and can't leave it closed, it'll go up to the 30's in the sun) and it's still so cold. Can we have some warm please?

Re: Early Spring Bits and Bobs

I've planted out the little gem lettuces and put up one wigwam for my cobra French beans. I remember the days of my allotment when I could put up a lot more bean canes!

It is indeed! He comes to the back door asking for more, he knows where its all coming from. He has been dive bombing us as we go outside the last few days! There is a new chick, I saw it yesterday, so yes, he needs all the food he can get.

Re: Anyone heard it yet?

We don't have cuckoos here I'm sorry to say. However, the Robin finally landed on my hand this morning, I had a few mealworms to tempt him. It's taken us weeks of 'training' to get to this stage. Hopefull he'll stop for a second tomorrow and actually take a worm away with him.

I didn't realise it was going to be so cold last night, left all my seedlings out. Thankfully, they all seemed to be OK at 7 this morning.

Re: Early Spring Bits and Bobs

The carrots are finally up this afternoon. They've been sulking for weeks, I was about to re sow them.
