Eat 2 plus 5 and stay alive!!

The latest advice is to EAT  2  PLUS  5  AND STAY ALIVE!! That is 2 portions of fruit and 5 portions of vegetables a day. I cut my cross-slits first and use a dibber to make a hole for each potato and push it down to the bottom. Fill up hole. You may have to help the shoots find the hole when ...

Government survey on growing your own fruit and vegetables.

I found the following information very interesting, and we plotters seem to be very keen on our beans!! A recent Government survey shows that the proportion of home back garden or allotment grown fruit and vegetables, has almost doubled in the last four years. This is likely to be due to the rapidly...

Re: Potato root eelworm

There is a new organic control for Eelworm, but it requires the ground to be taken out of productive use for a growing season. This could prove useful where an allotment has been badly managed for several years and the eelworm eggs have become established and are lying dormant in the soil. The organ...

Re: Aminopyralid contaminated manure 2012

Doxstar is used for the treatment of dockens, but you could do a google search to see if there is any literature on the effects of the chemicals involved. Try writing to Dow to see if the effects are similar to aminopyralid.
