Re: Early Spring Bits and Bobs

Hi all I'm sorry I dropped out of sight over the winter. It was so wet, so cold, I wasn't really doing much on the 'lottie. The good news is that there was always something to harvest, even if it was hardly a balanced diet! Leeks, parsnips, beetroot, spinach. Now, after putting several things in, th...

Re: This year's new trial!

My experiment this year is salsify. I'm a little sceptical but now have the space to experiment.

Can't fault the operation and management.

Well done them. It's nice of you to give credit where it is due.

Re: Mid Winter Bits and Bobs.

Our electricity has just come on after cutting out at 5pm last night. Northern Power Grid were on the spot very quickly and discovered that the main cable along our road had smouldered for a while and melted the gas main next to it! Over night a big hole was dug in front of our house to repair the ...

Perhaps I can buy a big polytunnel frame and put enough mesh over it to cover the entire plot. That might work.

Re: Mid Winter Bits and Bobs.

Snow today. By Herts standards quite enough, it wouldn't scare anyone from Yorkshire or further north.
But it is an unmade, unadopted road which makes things more difficult.

My DIY work will certainly be indoors today.
And there will be some work I need to complete in the office (i.e. the desk upstairs) - all voluntary stuff.

Better get down to the brook and clear a space for Cook...
I have been fortunate in my white goods. Washing machine dates back to 2002 when I moved into the current abode. A fridge-freezer is older, I must have bought it in 1997.
