Great idea! We have a leg of the european hovercraft speed and endurance race here in France at lake Rabodange, Approx 4km away from my land perhaps I could enlist them to plough my 7 acres, Should take less than 30 secs and no morning after back ache!

Hi, I have always just cut off at ground level, The canes removed are then stuck in sand then used to form a new bed, Ive never had any problems and have not reduced in fruit production per plant

Sod the creosote, Just use the old engine oil, Did mine 5 years ago and still has not faded. Of a night time with the aid of a torch you can see the earwigs crawl onto the posts and die, But plant's such as wisteria and jasmin are doing fine on the same posts!

If anyone is interested, Here in rural France, If one has a problem with Rats,weasels,stoats,pine martins and ferrets stealing eggs, We fill a old coke bottle with moth balls and put small holes in it. I kid you not, But our girl's get all our left overs until the pigs arrive in spring. On several occassions we have made a vat of vindaloo and the left overs have gone to the girls, resulting in spicey egg's:
