The difference being that nature seems to know what she's doing but I'm not as sure about our white coated scientists. Interesting discussion.

That's a good point Reallybear, most books (and even the wonderful KG mag) assume prior knowledge. I wonder if theres a book for complete duffers like me, anyone know? (Sorry if this highjacks your spud thread RB).

You are so right OH. As I've previously mentioned they are ex-battery hens, one of them must have come from somewhere quite horrendous because she was almos bald. She is the cheekiest one as she has had to fight all her life. The 2 who were in the best condition are the boldest and most happy to be ...

The weather has been fantastic here too so I've spent the afternoon mucking out the chicken run liming the soil and spreading new hemp bedding for them to dig and dust bathe in. As usual all 4 of them had to help by standing on the shovel and looking for worms where I'd just dug.

One of the weirdest things about getting older is the rapid growth spurt of ear hair, nose hair and eyebrows, I mean what exactly does my body think it's preparing for. :oops:
