Onions in Poly Tunnels

Onions in poly tunnels

My onions were awful last year - many just rotted in ground & others succumbed when stored.

So what I would like to know is...

Does anyone have experience of planting onion sets in a poly tunnel in March?

Will I get a successful crop?

Help!!

Gritty Pears

I have an old pear tree in the garden. The pears are a good size & ripened nicely after picking but...

They are very gritty near the pips. The grittiness persists after cooking.

Is this down to variety, growing conditions or what?

Storing Potatoes

I never wash mine - just dry them off on a sunny breezy day. But even so I do check them during the first few weeks of storage. And yes I did find a couple of rotten ones. I put this down to blight - really bad here this year. If anyone is interested I put my potatos in paper sacks in a wooden chest...

Rating the seed companies

I have been getting my seeds from Edwin Tucker for a number of years now & have not been at all disappointed with germination or other aspects of results. :D

Damson Trees

My damson trees carried a very heavy crop but the problem is they are so tall I can only reach a few branches to pick them. Shaking the tree did not work too well - brought down too much rubbish!

Does anyone know whether it is possible to reduce the height of branches successsfully please. :?:
