I have found 'Vegetable and Herb Expert' by D G Hessayon to be invaluable over the years. I know he also has a 'Greenhouse expert' book available but have not used it.

Sounds a little bit like ladybird eggs, though they are normally found on the underside of leaves in little clusters.

I have used the predatory mite 'Phytoseiulis persimilis' (I think ) to great effect. They are best used as a preventative though and it is recommended to do a release about once a month and as such can get very expensive.
