underground slugs on spuds

Although I grew plenty of spuds this year,I do find on pentland crown a fair bit of damage from slugs, though sheer quantity saw me through. Can anyone tell me of either a really good method of protection,or a good spud slugs don't go for? I also grew pink fir apple, which were pretty much left alone,...

moving raspberry canes

I just took a second plot, right nextdoor the the one I already have,I must be insane . Anyway,on this new plot, there are some raspberry canes which look ok,but they need a good clear up,as the last tenants were a complete and utter waste of space, and let the whole thing overgrow, and at the bottom of...

Muck spreading

Hello all Well it's soon time to put a bit of poke in the soil,in my case I'll be spreading muck, now I think it's a case of if you dig it in you dig it in,if not, leave it on top and let the worms dig it in for you, though I'm a long way from a no dig gardener, I just think it's better to do that tha...

blight (been pretty lucky really!)

As the heading would suggest,my spuds survived the ordeal so I'm happy about that! My toms on the plot were not quite so lucky though the process has been slow and I still harvest some, though that time would appear to be coming to an end now! Me and the wise elder from the plots have just put some w...
