Re: Early Autumn Bits and Bobs - 2021.
Hi Chaps. Hope you are all OK and avoiding the dreaded lurgy! You mentioned that you'd like a rate for the garlic granules. Here is the reply I had from KG reader Jacci who carried out the experiment on her plot. I'll publish it in the magazine soonest too: I scattered 3kg over the whole lot, althou...

Re: KG mag shortage?
Hi Monika. In fact there was a problem at the distribution centre which supplies stores in your area and copies went out a few days late, so would have appeared a few days later than normal on the shelves. Hopefully by now your local stores should have had their stocks and had a chance to put them o...

Re: KG mag shortage?
Hi Monika - sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I'm not aware of a problem, but I'll check it out with our distribution team and get back to you soonest.

Re: LOCKDOWN TOP TIPS
Wow thanks chaps for all your comments that have come in over the weekend. Lots of great stories and tips there, but feel free to keep sending them in. We will add as many as we can to our feature, probably in the October issue. Hope you (and your veggies) are not being blown around too much this mo...

...and a great story too Clive and one I reckon many people will identify with. Thank so much for sharing it with us. Hoping some of the slowing down and making do that was forced upon us over the past few months will rub off, but fear modern life will take over again as soon as it can! Glad the fre...

LOCKDOWN TOP TIPS
Hi everyone This has been a really challenging year for everyone and gardeners are no exception. Garden centre closures, shortages and delivery challenges involving many gardening essentials have forced us to adapt and become more resourceful. In the kitchen too we’ve all been looking for ways to ma...

Re: Onions from Seed
You cud plant them in your polytunnel Connie or alternatively pot them on into individual small pots or large cells and grow them on. Harden them off before planting outside in March as Elmigo says or if the weather is still poor hang on for a little longer until it improves. If planting outside cho...

Re: Well Done Kitchen Garden !
Sounds like a good idea Westi. I'm not sure how the supermarkets or some potential customers would like it, but I'll put it to those who deal with these things and know much more about the marketing aspects than I do. You don't know unless you ask!

Re: Well Done Kitchen Garden !
Yes it is a bit more complicated in the shops Primrose. As well as allowing potential purchasers to see what's in the issue it also has to remain stable in storage, which has been our problem with starch-based bags etc. But still looking.

Hi Guys Glad you like it! Yes from now on all subscriber copies will be sent out in paper envelopes which I agree is a big step forwards. Those n the shops are still in a type of plastic, but can be recycled at larger stores at plastic shopping bag collection points and we continue to look for a bet...

Re: wrapper which the magazine comes in
Hi Guys Yes we are always checking on the situation regarding wrappings for KG and I would agree with lots of Stephen's comments below. Potato starch bags have too short a shelf life since we would have to buy in bulk to get the price we would need to make it viable. Also I believe they compost only...

Re: Very Small Globe Artichokes
You are obviously more of an artichoke connoisseur than I am Cobbarn - they are one veg that my family and I have never been able to feel the love for, so I don't grow them, although I do grow cardoons for their ornamental appeal. I wonder if it is possible to go back to the person you originally ha...

Re: Pea and Bean weevil?
Healthy plants usually go on to produce good crops without having to spray Catherine - or you could consider covering the young plants with crop protection netting or fleece until well established. If you do need to spray Bug Clear Gun for Fruit & Veg, Ecofective Bug Killer is approved for use o...
