Atco

Hi All, I have a lovely old 1954 Atco (Ref. 1454) which I hope to use when I get older than I am now. It runs well and cuts superbly. However it's a beast, taking off at such a rate it's difficult to control. Could anyone recommend the easiest way to gear it down so that I can proceed at a more leis...

Re: Templar Tiller/Qualcast idler bearing.

Update on last post. I thank Richard for the info. he gave on converting the skate wheel by welding 'large washers' onto it as it seems now that's what Templar did. The 'jockey wheel' I purchased has been given some home made felt 'dust barriers' on either side and guide lugs as per MT so can be use...

Re: Templar Tiller/Qualcast idler bearing.

Thank you Guys for all your help. I've managed to find a 'jockey wheel' from Gateshead Lawnmower centre. Their delivery was super fast so they're worth dealing with.

Re: Templar Tiller/Qualcast idler bearing.

'Fraid not Robo. The bearing is a T.T. own part, not an 'off-the-shelf part.
I don't have the equipment to rebuild the bearing hence the request for any part that may be out there.
Thanks anyway!

Templar Tiller/Qualcast idler bearing.

Hi all,
I'm after a bearing that's used to tension the drive belt on either of the above machines. I'm doing up a T.T. for general use on our small village allotment site but the current bearing has disintegrated.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Organic control of Allium "White rot".

I am grateful for previous advice on this subject having suffered from this devastating 'rot' four years ago after 30 years of disease free veg. growing. I treated the area affected after harvesting, firstly with a Jeyes Fluid soak, after two dry days with the garlic mix spray. No alliums have been ...

One for Clive perhaps?

Hi guys, Have just 'inherited' a 1962/3hp MT which I will fettle up and donate to our Village allotment group. It has two sets of slashers and these weird & wonderfull rollers? I have never seen any MT attachments such as these. Any info. folks? Many thanks http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v633...

Re: Garlic for winter planting - where to source them

Monica, Looked at their prices - not competitive with 'Garlic Farm' then? Also looked at the enviromesh price as I was considering replacing the 'netlon' covering on my fantastic cheap plant tunnels. Would cost me £31 per run. As I have two allotments side by side, to keep the sky rats & cabbage...

Re: Garlic for winter planting - where to source them

I agree with Geoff about Garlic Farm 'ripoff' prices. I wanted some new stock as the bulbs I have were donated by my Italian barber who doesn't know the Italian variety (deffo hardneck). After this appalling year, the losses through rot were acceptable though the cloves were smaller. They have dried...

Re: Atco query.

Thankyou both for your replies.
The 1954 has aluminium ends, the 1956 wooden!
He can live with the high 'tick over' I suppose but I'll pass on the other info.
Thanks again.

Atco query.

One for Clive perhaps. My neighbour bid successfully for a complete 1956 two stoke(14") and got it for £26. He went into a local Agri. merchant for a couple of bits and was offered a similar one from the back of the workshop for £20 so he had that as well! After a bit of fettling we got the fir...

Re: Backsaver spade.

Originally made by 'Terrex' in the 60's I believe. No-one was interested in reviving the idea but then some bloody French company took the idea up and are now selling them (at the last count for £90+). Everyone who has ever used one agrees that they are excellent if your back is a problem. Some ente...

Re: Merry Tiller belt guard

I hired an aerator from a local company a few years ago. The machine was like a Merry Tiller with hollow tines and a heavy weight attached to the front.
It was very affective. I must go back & take some pics. & send them on if of any use.
