my worms don't look very happy

Hi all I've had a quick squint on the wiggly wigglers site and thought i'd ask the collective wisdom of KG for advice too. I think my worms aren't very happy The collecting tray wasn't draining awfully well so I decided to investigate. I found that whilst there wasn't very much fluid in there there ...

I ordered two compost bins from our local council in March and I'm still waiting for them. Thankfully with a thriving wormery and two lots of bokashi bins we create very little landfill waste. We Freecycle unwanted serviceable consumer items, take old clothes and shoes to the clothes bank, and decen...

probably known already but it's worth repeating - don't be tempted to knot the leaves, or cut them off after the bulbs have flowered. They're full of nutrients and the bulbs need them to flower properly the next year.

my butts are getting low already - and no rain forecasted in the foreseeable future.
I've been suggesting to the Asst.Est.Mgr that he taps into the waste pipe from the shower/bath and runs it into the butt. the suggesting turns into harassing tomorrow :)

We have several (ahem) bikes OH! I ride a Honda CB600FSII (Hornet), Alex rides a Honda VTR1000 (Firestorm). In the garage we have a Honda XBR500, a Moto Guzzi V50, a Ural something or other, and an Armstrong MT500 which is still on the bench being rebuilt. It's not far off being roadworthy, and is a...

the top couple of inches of my soil are rock hard lumps. So much so that I've resorted to bashing them with a hammer to try to break them up. I wonder what the assembled sages would recommend as a mulch - bark chippings, compost (peat free, of course) or manure. I'm afraid that my stash of horse man...

I suspect that my views may be some of the ones you have found offensive. I think...

had a lovely weekend! The Asst.Est.Mgr mowed the lawns and clipped the edges top perfection in readiness for some friends coming over for the evening on Friday. He got absolutely bladdered and snuck into bed apologising for feeling "a bit sicky, baby - got a bucket just in case. If I sicky, I s...

Just to be clear I'm not suggesting that Christine should wear a full maquillage during the programme; one Rachel de Thame is enough! I maintain that there are few women who can carry a short back and sides and get away with it. Stella Tennant maybe, Greta Garbo definitely. But Christine Walkden? I ...

I suspect that having her on the television is perhaps something of a backlash against the "glamorous" garden make over programmes. A sort of lesson in ordinary people are the real gardeners, it's not glamorous, it's hard work, you get sweaty and grubby doing it. I don't really know anythi...
