Re: The best green tomato chutney - ever!

Hi,
I've just made a big pot of Delia's chutney and it is very vinegary - should i add more sugar to counteract that?

Show Rules for fennel and pink fir apples and patti pan

I'm a show novice and just realised (for Saturday) that i ought to have bought the show rules from the RHS as our schedule just refers back to them. I want to show some Pink Fir Apple Potatoes: they are knobbly and rather vulgar. Do I have to find boring matched ones or can i enter them in all their...

Thanks for your replies - our allotment isn;t that child-friendly! I also appreciate the point about international mixing - not one we see on our site yet. We have quite alot of generational mixing though which is good. I also think that the contribution to the community's environment is good if sma...

How do allotments contribute to the community

A friend of mine kept doctors busy with her unusual bizarre outputs. They almost suggested putting her affairs in order on the third occasion when a nurse asked if she'd eaten beetroot the day before!

I'm trundling along well with the bokashi bins - it's what to do with the produce that is bothering me. I wanted bokashi to work in tandum with my worms and possibly speed them up but the worms don't seem to go there. Perhaps it is too compact (so mixed with cardboard) or too acidic? One tray is now...

Goldfish update

Hi,
How did the goldfish cope last summer - I see the mossies looking lovingly at our water butt already so would love an update. Tried the oil and it killed the larvae but it did leave a mucky residue on the sides.
Thanks

I put half a melon or similar in the bin and it fills with worms which I then return to the empty bin. I've been known to buy tiger worms from the fishing shop to add to a new bin.
