this year we watched our newly planted asparagus come up and within days the family of rabbits near us had eaten all the growing shoots  :!:  Three clean shots later and the asparagus have sent up new spears ! So, I guess an air rifle is what you need !

I've had sawfly in the past , but the leaves that have come through just look like forming leaves and are just breaking out of the bud. howeevr they haven't got any bigger, like they are stuck in the bud. i would say that I've only got about 15 of these tiny leaves on a large bush.

no leaves on my gooseberries

I have 2 large gooseberry bushes. One invicta (usually produces 7lb of fruit a year) and a smaller newer one (leveller). This year they didn't come in to leaf. One bush managed to produce some tiny leaves on a few branches, but for all intents and purposes I may as well say there are none. Any idea...

I bought a BAUMATIC (90 cm wide) I got it 6 years ago and it has been super.I think I paid 900 for it although it usually goes for 1200, the internet proved to have some good deals. What I like is that it has 2 ovens, not just one oven and a plate warmer, which some of the others had. It also has a r...

thanks everyone. I was going to pay a child, but as I'm a secondary school teacher, i didn't want any of my "kids" hanging around my house for 6 weeks. I have found an automated water timer half price in B and Q today and I've also managed to get a Y valve so that I can run a drip pipe in ...

shady corner

I also live in west cumbria and part of my veg plot is also shady. I have had some success with lettuce, carrots and broad beans, but leeks always end up thin and weedy and brassicas don't work at all.

going away for the summer any advice on watering systems

I shouldn't brag, but i'm off to the alps for 6 weeks in July. I am a keen veg grower and I've planned well so that i can harvest lots before I go and then harvest again at the end of august. However I can't expect my friendly neighbours to water my garden whilst I'm away. Does any one have experien...

lemons

I received a lemon tree last christmas and I've managed to produce 10 decent sized fruits. They began to turn yellow a while ago but seem to have gone blotchy as though they have stopped trying to turn. Does any one know if this is a disease or whether the light levels are just too low. Will they pi...
