a natural area with pond and wild flowers and benches for tired gardeners to rest while having there dinner , it should all be fairly low maintinance and encourge wildlife onto your plots ( bees , toads and frogs ) and maybe a goverment grant.

for me it's alan and monty as i didn't watch it before then .
but the first gardening book i bought was geoff hamilton gardeners world and i remember percy from blue peter.
what was facinating about the show was how each presenter changed gardening for a diffrent generation.

I'm pleased to say today i have twenty four summer cabbages ( primo 2 ) in my raised beds coming to maturaty , and have just harvested one and the cabbage ball weighed 2lb and is firm .
So the answer is yes you can grow brassicas in a raised bed.

same here , they have all grown and produced a good size bulb but then have bolted and produced a seed head with the individual cloves starting to re- grow out of the big plant ( possible to much nitrogen ?)
can these cloves be re-planted again as they have there own separate roots ? :shock:

could the problem be a calcium deficiancy as soft eggs normally point to the lack of calcium , so the hen is eating the egg as it's only source of calcium to make more eggs ( so the endless cycle) :shock:

sorry just re-read reply ,
ph 7 is classed as normal below that is acid down to ph 1 and above is alkaline up to ph 14 so adding tea /bags to the soil will reduce both ph and acidity over a long time.

sorry not very clear,
if the tea/bags are used on normal soil it should reduce the ph instead of buying the proper expensive compost and then saving a few pounds.

got talking to someone about the subject of teabags and the use of them and found out tea is an acid of ph 5.8 and could be used for blueberries and cranberries to keep the acidity down . this reading was taken on a electronic ph meter and the theroy about growing these plants should work ( not trie...
