Would you believe I found 1 tiny snail hiding in the corner of my greenhouse yesterday. I wonder if just the one could be the culprit?

I have removed him, and put down some organic slug pellets on the floor (as it's all gravel) so am hoping this will rescue the plants for a short while!

Aubergines in greenhouse getting eaten

Slugs seem to be everywhere this year. This is my first year with a mini greenhouse (6ft x 2ft) and I can't work out what is eating my plants. Last weekend I took everything out and only found 2 slugs lurking inside. But this week something is really tucking into my aubergine plants - I am really an...

Paraffin greenhouse heater

I've just brought a paraffin heater in the B&Q sale as I thought it would be fantastic to get my plants off to an earlier start, I was intending to use it to keep it frost free. The heater is a parasene super warm 4. Now I've got it home I'm wondering if it will be dangerous to have it running i...

Hi thanks, yes they all fly up! I did a google search for some whitefly images and it's definately them.
I'm not growing any brassicas but perhaps they have a liking for dying lupin remains?

Thanks,

what are these small white bugs (possibly heart shaped)

Hi I found tons of tiny white bugs, they look almost heart shaped, and have been hiding in my dying lupins, and also (separately) in a courgette plant I chucked at the weekend - complete disaster and very mildrew ridden. Any ideas what they are, and how to naturally get rid of them? There are so man...

Thanks for your replies. The garden gets lots of sun as it's south facing, although my greenhouse is at the very end by the fence and next to shed so it won't be in full sun all day long. Since my last post I now have some great shelves that my other half built inside for me! I am very happy with th...

Best methods to store cayenne chill peppers

Hi Well, one of the successes for me this season has been cayenne chilli peppers grown in a hanging basket. They look fantastic and colourful in their bright red! I have quite a few chilli's I'm not ready to use and am alittle confused about storage options. So I'm wondering what's the best way to d...

I was intending to use peat pots next year, as I though this would be safer. But do you think the root trainers are a better method?
Thanks

I tried some last night and it was really nice :)
The sweetcorn was abit bigger than I thought it looked, although they haven't all developed down the whole cob, but still very nice. It's tempting just to grow sweet corn next year!

how late can you lift potatoes?

Hi I planted some Pink Fir Apples earlier in the year (you may remember as I posted on here for advice at the time!) which have been a successful and I've been harvesting them. I think I read that they are an early maincrop. I'm wondering how long I can risk leaving them stored in the ground, or sho...

Sweetcorn and baby sweetcorns questions

Hello I had 3 attempts at sowing sweetcorn this year, as I was unaware about how much the roots dislike being moved (so the first 2 early attemps failed) and I ended up sowing some straight into the soil. To my surprise they have actually produced small kernels! I live in London and now worry that t...

My first greenhouse (2ft by 6ft )

Hello I've purchased my first greenhouse (of sorts) from B&Q at the weekend. It's a 6ft by 2 ft plastic windowed greenhouse, with an aluminium frame. The price was very reasonable given the other price I'd seen for similar product. It's got a sliding door and it's possible to stand inside it (ju...
