Dear Peter,
it can't be a bee as bees can only sting once and the sting is left in the wound and the bee dies. Just thought you neded to know that.
Regards Sally Wright.

Dear Allan, sweet dumpling is one of my favourites and is both tasty and good looking. Another advantage is that it is small and is convenient for single people to cook. It is microwavable if pierced (if not then the words from the Italian Job are forcibly brought to mind - you're not supposed to bl...

Dear All, the pole lopper from wilkinson is very good . We have one at work for about 4 years and considering the amount of work it gets it is still in remarkably good condition. It is not only good for high work, I used it only last week to get to the bottom of a Mahonia because it was the only way...

Curried Courgette Soup
Dear All, this is a question for those with long memories. I posted a recipe for curried courgette soup last year and I have lost my copy of it. I have 12lbs of courgettes to use so I need someone to post the ingredients list for me if anyone still has it. Both variations please. Regards Sally Wright.

Dear Pillbug, try chopped or sliced in white wine vinegar. Use new jars and lids (because of the acid the lids cannot be reused). Once opened it will keep for about a month in the fridge so use small jars. Lakeland limited sell small ones and the lids to fit them come separatly so you can buy more f...

Dear P/H, the figs will be ripe during the last two weeks of July and the first two weeks of August if it is an outdoor fig. The figs will change colour going to a brownish green and the hole at the end of the fig will enlarge, but the best indicator of ripeness is touch. The fig will go soft and fe...

Dear All, I find that adding the juice of half a lemon for every pound of straw's gives an excellent set and does not affect the flavour. I will also soak the straw's in the sugar overnight before jamming. This draws out the juices and allows the fruit pieces to survive the jam making process. (also...
