right, I can get a picture onto my post, as you can hopefully see, but how do I get it smaller and in the left hand side, on all my posts?

Hello Mandy,
The Avatar photo that you refer to is added via your Profile.
Click on Profile and it opens up a list of your Registration details on which somewhere fairly well down the page is the option to add an Avatar....
From the Browse option you can then locate the photo on your computer that you wish to add as an Avatar...then click the Submit button to upload the changed Profile.
There is a limit in size to this Avatar photo... which is a under 120 pixels X 120 pixels and under 12kb so the photo will need to have been shrunk by whatever photo program you have to hand.
I am no expert at this.. and all was learnt by trial and error...One photo I chose looked very washed out once shrunk..I supect I could have used a different file format other than .jpeg. in this application..????
Hope this helps,
All the best and a Happy New Year,
Clive.

I hate sharing my details with any company that sells it's lists if I can help it, so haven't signed up for Photobucket in order to resize my photos. But I found this site that resizes images for avatars, very straightforward to use, and you don't have to give them your life history to use it!

Sorry,
I took them off as the resolution was not too good! when I set the picture size to 120 pixels width (max) the file size went down to 1.3Kb, so I must be doing something wrong!
I will get my other half to sort it out! Why struggle with something yourself when you have an expert in the house?

I don't suffer from insanity .... I enjoy it!
