broad beans... leaves and shoots curling

Looks like it could be a virus of some sort,the leaves have that mottled,almost lumpy look that tulips get with a virus,what was your seed source?

Yes, they do look a bit lumpy dont they, not mottled though, that is just reflection and the colour is very uniform.
I got the seeds from my regular and very responsible seed merchant/garden centre. They buy in bulk and supply most of the local allotment holders and small veg growers. I buy an old fashioned pint of seeds every year. I spoke to them on Friday and they have not had any other reports, but will check with the seed company to see if there was any other problem with the batch.

I am not sure about the seed though, as they all started well and even the ones that are affected have normal lower leaves.
