Some of them are pollinated by Bats in the wild so give off the most delicious coconutty smell in the evening.

I have planted these in every house we've lived in, these are the only ones to have grown, they must like the poor thin soil better.

That,s interesting tigerburnie. Somebody gave me some of these a few years ago . I planted them in a stoney soil border in our front garden and not a single one appeared sadly. Are they supposed to reproduce and multiply over time like some other bulbs do?

One of those is a cutting from a plant my Dad got back in the 1960's, the others, I have four varieties I got from ebay, they are so simple to propagate and as long as you keep them pot bound , poorly fed and not standing in water, they are bomb proof.

turns out I already have one - fishbone cactus, but it has never flowered. I have had a quick peek on ebay, very exciting, I can see some more plant purchases in my immediate future (where to hide them so DH doesn't find out I've bought more!!!)

I like my flower beds at this time of year. At least the combinations are natural not like the ones they have been waxing lyrical about all week at Chelsea that wouldn't be in flower together left to themselves.
Has everybody got incredible hawthorn this year (I don't get out much!)? Our valley has looked good all week.
