raised beds

Here is a link to an article I published a year or so ago about creating a good soil mix for raised beds. I use this in mine and find it a great growing medium. I basically well rotted horse manure, soil, used peat and coir in roughly equal quantities and then add to it with home made compost in later years and also use chicken manure pellets and fish, blood and bone meal to fertilise it.

I find it works very well and is easy to plant in, easy to water, easy to weed, (not that there are many), and easy to dig as I tend to use a trowel or just my fingers as it is such a light soil mix.

For those of you making raised beds it is possible without buying wood or special box frames, and then you can plant the sides of the beds too
