Alan Alda (Hawkeye Pierce in the MASH TV series) was very upset as a child when his dog died and his well-meaning father sent the dog to a taxidermist. Nice idea but it was not a success. Oh gee. It sounds horrendous.

I've bought the Kindle version of one of his books £3.99.

I remember watching MASH on my portable B&W telly in my bedroom when I was a kid. That made me think, Blimey, that programme must be really old. It is old, but it hasn't dated. Husband and I are rewatching the series yet again.

Alan Alda's real name is Alphonso Joseph D'Abruzzo.

I always enjoyed the re-runs, it is back on one of the freeview channels I think.

Love M.A.S.H. Showing some age there I think. A bit like the recent research that shows songs are becoming simpler, repetitive and self-absorbed. I think TV is also doing this. Why I like watching old TV reruns (including Hong Kong Phooey, Wil O’ the Wisp, Moomins and Bagpuss to name but a few, I do watch adult TV too such as Bergerac, Midsomer Murders etc), they seem simpler but more complex all at once.

Ooo, I’ve never seen that OH but it looks lovely. Will have to have a search on the welliebox and see if I can find it streaming anywhere.

It’s the innocence I like.
