My gourds appear to be growing well; but they smell revolting-they are still in pots in my potting shed.
Are they supposed to smell funny?
Next question is-they are draping themselves over the edge of my tray are they supposed to be hanging plants?

I've grown gourds on and off for years, and I've not known them to have an unpleasant aroma! Maybe the compost is stale. Try repotting in sweeter fresher compost and in a bigger pot. Have you been watering with old rainwater or other source of standing water perhaps?

Most gourds are trailing varieties, so I'm not surprised they are well on their way... Some are very long - up to 15 feet, depending on the richness of the soil. Like curcurbits, they are heavy feeders and prefer lots of well-rotted manure and watering well on occasion.

What shapes/varieties/colours are you growing? There is a huge variety from which to choose...
