As you may have noticed, Kitchen Garden magazine has a new website and we're very excited about it!
Visit the website here - http://kitchengarden.co.uk/
You'll almost definitely have noticed that this meant a period of 'down time' yesterday (Monday) whilst the switchover took place. This meant the the whole site and forum temporarily disappeared, but it is now back!
The new site is very different in terms of styling, but it has the same great content as before - just more of it! We've also packed out the Subs Club section with loads more features, recipes and general goodness so there's even more for subscribers to access. Lucky things.
Anyway, with the website now live, we would really appreciate all your feedback - positive and negative - so we can make sure that KG has the best online presence possible. Tell us what you like about it, what you don't, what more or less you'd like to see on there... We promise to look at each comment individually and take all feedback on board.
Thank you in advance!

Quick knee jerk reaction to what I've briefly seen.
Pro's. Clean Neat, Tidy and bright looking
Wide coverage although some articles look as if they maybe outdated (Bee count 2015 for one)
Cons
No obvious 'contact us links'
Having used the link on the forum thread I was disappointed that it did not open up in a new window, but instead closed the forum.
Tried using 'back' icon to return to forum but new web page just took me round in circles without ever returning to forum. Messy.
Just as a observation, whilst you did not have to say specifically why the forum would be down could you not have posted notice on forum in advance that the site and forum would be unavailable for a period 'due to update work'. At least we would not have been left wondering what was wrong.

The danger when people start to believe their own publicity is that they often fall off their own ego.
At least travelling under the guise of the Pa Snip Enterprise gives me an excuse for appearing to be on another planet

Hello and thanks for the prompt feedback - we really do appreciate it.
With regard the forum, we had not anticipated that the down time would last any where near as long as it did, but I agree, we should have given you some pre-warning... hindsight is a wonderful thing, isn't it?
You might notice some tweaks to the website, not the forum, over the next week or so as we hone it, so feel free to continue letting us know your thoughts!

Hindsight always is. Lesson learned I expect
I figured that you would still have 'work in progress' .
Sometimes things suddenly become apparent when the theory is put into practice.
I learned many years ago whilst operating my own business website that if my webmaster & tech's said downtime outage would be 2 hours, allow at least 4.
When dealing with anything to do with gardening, including a magazine, one should always allow for the law of sod, it is after all most applicable.

Despite my rants on my other posting (Oh! What chaos!) I promise I shall be suitably impressed when the gremlins have been ironed out.

Since I only regained access to the forum by accident - an e-mail notification to Fred's post which he managed to get on the new address

perhaps it would be a courtesy to all other members to e-mail them with the new address.

Thanks, on behalf of the forum, for that.

Hi!
It looks very fresh & modern. Took me a while to get over the surprise & I will have to explore more, but looking forward to seeing it grow & develop. Liking the recipes being there for a start! (Maybe you need a test kitchen to show the finished results of some of the great recipes posted on here). Just a suggestion.
Time to get it out there & let people know about it though. Don't know the circulation of the KG Mag but feel lots more people to entice & invite, to the site & to the forum.

Personally, I dont like the new site. I preferred the old one. But i'm sure I'll get used to the new one given time

Is there anything in particular that you don't like about it, dan3008?

Trying to create a login to the site wouldn't work - I already had a login to the old site based on a user name rather than an email address. Tried to use the Zeddit system to create a login (Subscriber number, Surname, Email address, password I think it was) and it just froze. Tried the Facebook option and it said it had worked, confirm by clicking link in email
That's all I got - no sign of a link.
Which is the subscriber number on the magazine wrapper - 5 numbers and a letter or 14 characters including a couple of letters in the middle? Can't login to look at my account either.
Not that keen on your new cookery site, don't really like the big blocky layout and some articles just finish in mid sentence (might be related to not being properly logged in I suppose).
