Are you sure it's mice.
Could it be slugs?
If so then pellets are the answer. If you have the strawbs netted against birds then there's no problem.

I get Voles in my Strawberries and don't know any method other than trapping. Had to resort to putting strings on the traps last year after I lost one. First discovered furry critters were the problem when I found a Strawberry stuck in a hole, obviously bitten off more than it could chew (or take home).
