Lovely photos Pa. Thanks so much for sharing (and saving the rest of us the cost of an entry ticket
)
There is obviously joy for the growers in producing such beautiful specimens, some of which have probably been grown under special conditions. I wonder though whether there is any less pleasure felt by the ordinary growers who produce these vegetables in their allotments and garden plots. I can,t help looking at the ugly carrots, beetroots and other root vegetables and thinking that often we have no idea what the results of our labour will produce until the magic moment when we dig them up. Perhaps that's all part of the anticipation.
Pity the Ugly Beasties can't be displayed on some supermarket shelves in the vegetables area to better educate the public on what some real vegetables actually turn out like when grown. It might make customers realise how much produce gets wasted along the way when supermarkets only display perfect products on their shelves.
