One of my Spanish tomatoes. This was a seedling that was growing in my neighbour's compost heap so no idea of variety. It weighed 551gms and tasted delish.

Beefsteaks are amazing and great flavour. Haven't taken any photographs this year but we've had several Beefmaster well over a pound (my wife leaves the scales on Imperial) but here's a Pink Caspian from a year or two ago.

Mine look just like that (that's the splitting) - not as big by far though! Fortunately the younger fruit is not splitting and growing nicely and bigger already than the early ones that did split. The split doesn't matter - loose a bit of flesh but the flavour is the same as Bussinspain hopefully will agree.

We ate the largest one without weighing it but I've picked a tray full of Double Rich this afternoon that weigh between 350 and 450 g and they seem huge, so yours must be a whopper. I think the seeds originally came from someone on this forum, was there a Cevenol jardin user name I think from France? It is still my favourite beefsteak tomato and I save a few seeds from the best plant every year.

Wow Plum. That's an impressive harvest. How many fruits does each plant normally grow? And are they grown in the greenhouse or outdoors? I have only grown Marmande in the beefsteak range and found them rather disappointing so if anybody can recommend a beefsteak with good flavour for next year I will give them a try.

I picked some Ferline tomatoes today. They seemed much larger than I recall last year's crop were but the flavour was wonderful. I'm wondering I'd this was due to an increased sugar content triggered by a few days of intense sunshine earlier on.

I grow them in the greenhouse Primrose, and there are between fifteen and twenty on each plant this year. They're a good size too they must like the compost, Miracle grow. I did wonder whether the mini heatwave earlier helped a good set, although the few hot days later on prevented the fruit set on the ones in flower that week because I forgot to open the vents one morning and they nearly cooked.
