Mrs S and I took a trip out to RHS Garden Wisley today.
Thought we would see some colour and also see what was happening on the plot.
Once called 'Allotment' I notice it is now referred to as 'The Model Vegetable Garden'
A lot of the timber framing the beds has been replaced.
What looks like ornamental structures for climbing plants have been introduced.

Seems as if they have not been holding plants back in case of frost

That's interesting, maybe they have had our woodlice problem! I am going to try to make one of my butternut squash climb a frame this year but it won't be as pretty or as expensive as those - actually will probably blow over a the first hint of a breeze but I have loads of duct tape!

Doesn't it all look neat. I was also thinking of constructing something for the squash to climb up. Are the pointed ones made from wood or metal, Pa? Mine will probably be a rustic (cobbled together) version made from some hazel poles.

Its RHS, it's Wisley, it's for show. You can't say it won't give people some ideas but Mr & Mrs Blogs who want to grow veg probably don't have numerous gardeners on the payroll keeping it tidier than ours will ever be.
I haven't even got to the compost bins yet

Seakale
Looks like a well used accessory from the Wolf Garten clip on range.
Never seen one before so assume its long been discontinued.
Nice looking but my 'free' pallets do the job

Went over to the Woodland area next, lots of nice colour but pictures not relevant to KG

What's the structure to the right of 140773 by the way?

The structure is an anodised aluminium cold frame. They have had one (or it might be two joined together) of them for a number of years.
I have never measured them but I guess the sides are about 2ft tall. The sliding glass panels are all easily removable. I would certainly like a couple of them but my other guess is that they would cost a arm and a leg.
This picture, which includes one with glass in was taken 7th July 2014

It's good to see what an aim for perfection looks like and I like the posh sideless cold frame structures. Mine is sideless and roofless since they got blown out but very useful, and even better if you can afford one as long as they have.
