Has everybody realised that Boxing Day this year is officially Monday 28th December which a public holiday, and NOT Saturday 26th December which is the day after Christmas Day.

Could be very embarrassing if you've made arrangements with friends of relatives to go visiting or to come for a meal on "Boxing Day" and people turn up on doorsteps on the wrong day !

Not really the case, it is the official Bank Holiday which is on the Monday.

If, during what's left of 2015 prior to 28th Dec, you should go to https://www.gov.uk/bank-holidays then you'll see that it is described as "28 December Monday Boxing Day (substitute day)" :wink:

There've been a few days in 2015 where I'd have appreciated a substitute. :roll:

Well I can think of a few days I would happily have obliterated from the calendar altogether.

I'm sure a lot of us would like to be able to go back and alter events we didn't like or relive those events we enjoyed
I'm sorry to hear you've had awful days but I suspect there are others who have had much worse.
We are supposed to enjoy and celebrate Christmas, yet so many of us get stressed out preparing for it.

Whatever happened a minute, a day, or longer ago is history, learn from it and look forward to the next minute and more of your lives.
God forbid, you may suddenly get told its going to end sooner than you thought so make the most of it.

As I said at the start of this thread, Merry Christmas
and in the words of the late Hughie Green " I mean that most sincerely folks"

Good to see a post from you, Clive, and also nice to see big clods of soil left, for the Winter to get to grips with. :D
I hate to see a seed bed finish left, at this time of the year.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Well the tree and the cards are all up and I've raided the hedgerows for holly, ivy and catkins (big already this year), and the family have arrived - it must be Christmas!
So Merry Christmas to all our members and viewers, may they adopt a New Year resolution to be brave enough to post.

That's a good call Geoff, a wish I hope comes true

Hi Pa Snip

A translation for you

A Little Baby
For the sake of this very morning
As a little baby, a little baby
Was born the root of Jesse
As a little baby;
The Strong one who came from Bosra,
The Lawmaker of old on Sinai,
The Redemption to be had on Calvary
As a little baby, a little Baby,
Suckling the breast of Mary,
As a little Baby.

The life-giving water of Ezekiel is found
On Mary's knee, on Mary's knee,
And the true Messiah of Daniel
On Mary's knee;
Here is the wise boychild of Isaiah,
The promise made to Adam,
The Alpha and Omega
On Mary's knee, on Mary's knee;
In the stall in Beth'lem of Judah,
On Mary's knee.

Christ took off his crown,
Of his free-will, of his free-will,
In order to crown Zion,
Of his free-will;
To bow his undefiled head
Under the thorny crown
To suffer enraged derision,
Of his free-will, of his free-will,
To raise the head of the guilty,
Of his free-will.

Therefore, sinner, hurry,
As thou art, as thou art,
To ask for his Sanctuary,
As thou art;
For thee the well was opened
Which washes thy black wounds
Like the white snow on Salmon,
As thou art, as thou art,
For that, come promptly,
As thou art.
As a little baby :: A little baby
