The day passes so quickly. You wonder why people get so worked up about it......and spend so much money on it too,
Tomorrow we will be eating some innovative leftovers !

Hello Primrose

I confess to never having been a great lover of Christmas (or a great lover full stop  )
I think we spend far too much time, effort and money on one day that has, over the years, become more and more commercialised.

I am as guilty as the next person of having spent silly money on gifts this year., but I tried to buy things that people would have thought twice about spending money on themselves. They are either useful day to day use gifts or something which is an investment.

I think Mrs Snip has gone on the theory that the more books I have to read the longer I have to stick around to finish them.
There's a couple in particular that I am looking forward to reading

Good idea OH,

But in the interests of membership health taking into account what was probably consumed yesterday, I will put both frying pans on the gas rings in the shed on the plot and all those attending "The Great British Christmas Fry-up", Central Southern Division, starring Mary 'Two Fried Eggs' Berry and Paul 'I'd like some Bubble and Squeek' Hollywood, can also bring a fork and spade to take part in ' The Great New Year Plot Dig '

Dig you jest! Over 1" of rain yesterday and my shiny new device says 25.8mm already today (love those mixed units). Trying this on Surface 3 present from son, never been a fan of laptops will have to see how it goes. Theory is we use it for crossword help. I think we are on a curry menu rather than a fry up.

I'm rather relieved to see the back of yesterday. I cooked Christmas dinner, as usual, for Christmas Eve. Four people and me to feed. Yesterday midday was booked for scattering my wife's ashes in the rough sea at Criccieth. Both granddaughters wanted to be with me to say a last farewell. Me and son-in-law ended up soaked up to the knees!

Not as sorry an occasion as it sounds; she has gone back to the sea which she so much loved. And in a few more days I will get my life back on track with a brand new year.

I wish you very best of luck with getting back on track

Mrs Snip is questioning whether I will get my parents ashes, both of whom died many years ago, scattered before I depart.

Does the fact that, despite being together until my father went first, they want to be scattered about 100 miles apart suggest anything :D

Pa snip. Sounds like the grand Ashes tour.
Alan. These momentous family occasions often turn out in a rather different way from which their "suggestors" haf. originally planned - at least they have done in our family, which ought to be a lesson to us us that you can rarely plan anything and expect it to run smoothlynon the lines you had imagined. The upredictability of people or events invariably intervenes at some point.

Incidentally, on such a topic, dare we ask in what state Mrs Snip's new eglu currently stands ?? Ha Ha!

You can ask by all means .......................... :D

It currently stands in 6 heavy boxes in my daughters greenhouse. Fortunately their estate car is bigger than mine because this eglu would not fit into mine for delivery here.

We have yet to find the box that contain instructions, assuming one of them does. If not as I said before its 18 pages to print off their website, at which I will not be impressed

Pa Snip. This sounds like one of those cases where you hold a street party and invite your allotment chums round as well, provide a couple of cases of beer, set a stopwatch and kick off 'Build the Eglu'challenge.

On second thoughts, perhaps not. If it's anything like DIY projects in this house it will be a couple of weeks before anybody is speaking to each other again

Sounds more like a case of pin the tail on the donkey, or guess where the hell this bit fits.
Cant be that difficult surely (sorry must stop calling you that)
