I have 2 trees loaded with cherries this year and thought I would use some for cherry jam.
I have a basic recipe - cherries, sugar and lemon juice but wondered if any of you have anything a bit more special. One is the dark cherry 'Sunburst and the other a white cherry 'Cherokee'

Thanks.

No help, I'm afraid, but a question. When you make cherry jam how do you get all the stones out? I find it tedious enough with damsons so have never tried cherry.

Cherries are much easier than damsons. You just use a stoner, as you would with olives. With damsons you have to skim them out.

I find with my little short blade kitchen knife I cut round and the stone comes out of one half quite easily. I agree a long job, but with the amount of fruit I have I think this year well worth making one batch.
With damsons the fruit tends to stick to the stone.

We're all different. I use a stoner for cherries. Then I cook them.

With damsons, I cook them, then skim off the stones.

Don't use a knife for either.
