Picked small, 4 inches or so, broad beans cooked in their pods taste very good.
I topped and tailed them and cooked them in the microwave steamer for four minutes and served them with a dot of plain yoghurt.
I think they would be nice with a sprinkle of chopped mint as well, or butter, or chopped savoury which goes well with beans.
whole broad beans

I've heard that before PP - unfortunately I always miss that window of opportunity! What variety did you say you have, maybe I'd have more luck with a specifically bred smaller plant?

They are Stereo Westi. They are small, tender and very prolific. I think we said before we'd heard about cooking them whole but been put off by the furry insides. They are actually a pleasant slightly broad bean flavour with no hint of the fuzzy insides.
