I also buy tinned beans after many years of trying to cook dried beans. I tried everything imaginable but always got an irregular consistency. In recent years the smaller quantities available when I buy a tin of beans is more convenient than when I was feeding three daughters and all the hangers-on.

Also in recent years my intestinal flora must have been altered by the various drugs I take for pain-control but beans still don't make me poop. In fact the only vegetable that upsets my tummy is sprouts that have been re-heated.

Right now I'm eating cabbage every day in order to keep things regular because of drugs. Home grown cabbages that are harvested young are an absolute joy quickly boiled (Two minutes max.), drained then sauteed in a little oil, salt and pepper. Visitors won't eat my cabbage for fear of farting. What a shame, its delicious.

Back to beans. Same with all the other dried beans I tried, for me it'll always be tinned beans and I don't give up easily.
How are you supposed to start and maintain a healthy lifestyle if it completely removes a wine lover’s reason to live?
Richard.

Perhaps the aroma should be savoured and graded, it could be contained and taken to the local produce show, I'm sure there must be some specialist judges around.
Be careful with the container, a fart in a colander could cross contaminateImage
