Hi I have grown sweet potatoes again this year and will probably cook them down and freeze but it would be nice to keep a few for baking. Has anyone any tips on preserving?

You don't need to do anything to sweet potatoes to preserve them. They will stay dormant for as long as they don't receive any stimulus to grow, unlike potatoes which tend to come into growth when spring approaches, regardless. They should not be chilled, though.
Sweet potatoes are interesting to ethnobotanists from the standpoint of their distribution throughout Polynesia from their origin in South America, some considerable length of time ago. Polynesian sweet potatoes do not produce seed, which suggests that they can only have been transported as dormant tubers, and it is their resilience while dormant that allowed this.

Allotment, but little achieved.
Sweet Potatoes remain safe to use for long time.........so you need not to worry more for their preservation.
Also try to grill the sweet potatoes instead of baking...hope you like grilled ones....
