Yesterday we raked bucketfuls of moss from our lawn after all the recent wet weather. Is there any scientific reason why I can't dig this into the soil as moisture retention material, or dig it into my climbing bean trenches?

Provided the lawn has not been treated to kill the moss.
The usual moss killer does not mix mith veg growing.

OK in the bean trench but I would compost first if 'digging in' like compost or manure.

I use lawn moss for moisture retention in hanging baskets - works quite well, but needs to be quite packed down.
