Trying to understand how the instructions on some seed packets work.

SpinachBeet

When I plant in March the first harvest is June 3 ½ months
Plant in July Harvest October again 3 ½ months.

This makes sense to me.

Lettuce

Plant in January first harvest in March so plant to harvest is 2 ½ months.

Plant in August harvest in March this makes it a 7 ½ month from plant to harvest.

I am obviously reading this wrong, would appreciate an explanation.

Possibly because you are growing over winter which will slow the growing down or it could be a misprint

They don't grow much over winter but just sit there and start growing again when the temperature rises and the day length increases usually at the end of February. Ones started offr in spring don't hang about but get going quickly.
