Need to know the best time to plant?

HI, :D

CAN ANYBODY TELL ME A GOOD TIME TO MOVE A BLACKCURRANT BUSH THAT HAS BEEN IN PLACE FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS.

I HAVE DECIDED TO MOVE IT TO MY OTHER ALLOTMENT AS IT IS IN THE WAY AT PRESENT.

My own inclination would be to wait until autumn when all the leaves have dropped off but before the frosts start to arrive. This will give you an opportunity to get it well bedded in in its new location and well watered in before the harsh weather arrives. Having said that, I've often broken lots of gardening rules and got away with it when there's been a genuine reason to move a plant out of its proper season. I think the cardinal rule is just to avoid moving and replanting when the soil is hard with frost or so waterlogged that preparing the soil properly is impossible.

I have successfully moved full blackcurrant bushes form October to February - when the bush is dormant and the ground is wet - and no frost.
