Just spotted what I might pick as my experimental crop this year in the Sutton's catalogue.
Corn Shoots Bodacious. Soak seed, put them in compost in a seed tray & keep them in dark, taking them when 3 - 4 inches high. You end up with sweet yellow stems. I haven't searched anything about these, like are they a special type of Sweet Corn or will all shoots grow yellow if in the dark?
Anyone tried these? Looks like you just munch on them as is but maybe you could find a use in cooking as well. Maybe salad with pea shoots, maybe Chinese dishes?

OK! Searched it a bit now & got a couple of recipes. Yep! Gonna try it as worth nothing just chewing on it, got to enhance a dish to be of value. Unfortunately got distracted by something called Jicama & then back to Chokoes / Chayote, which Asda sells.
I love this vegetable gardening game - so much out there still to try. Some not especially for our climate but who'd thought we'd ever grow Sweet Potato in the UK? Where there's a will etc??
