Hello,

I'm rebuilding a 1964 Atco cylinder mower.

The intermediate gear (circled) seems to have a lot of axial movement.

It moves about 6-8mm. I've tried to show this with the red mark.

Third pic shows assembly; am I missing some sort of spacing washer?

With that much movement I'm afraid the chains could clash.

Thanks

I am of a mind that a spacer washer might be needed but if I read the photos right the chains shouldn't clash. The intermediate gear is being driven by the main drive? gear via the small sprocket, which then drives the small sprocket on the intermediate gear thus driving the clutch?drive gear.Without seeing it physically this is just a guess,of course.
