harvesting beetroot

Do you blanch it first? I don't normally blanch anything from the garden - does this need it? I'm glad I'm in s...

harvesting beetroot
I know baby beetroot are delicious when harvested in early summer, but what about now? I've just pulled up all my leftover beetroot to store and have found lots of little ones. Are they worth keeping, ok if eaten now, ok for pickling or shall I just compost them? Any ideas, please. -----------------...

A lot of new ideas are often based on old ones. I understand that traditionally, potatoes were always planted on Good Friday. That might, of course, have just been because people had a day's holiday. However, Easter Sunday is calculated as the Sunday after the first full moon of Spring (ie after Mar...

Thanks very much OF. Everything was getting cold and only the ones near the door seemed to be affected. Just as a matter of interest, blight here must have been quite potent as even my Ferline succumbed a little bit. We had a blight free 'window' when the weather was dry, late September but then it ...

I am a very newby - joined in today. I have been reading KG forum for some months now and have found it exceedingly informative and entertaining. I don't think it is aggressive. Strong feelings are exchanged but this shows how passionate people are about gardening. I have been impressed by everyone'...

tomato blight
Hello everyone. I bought a greenhouse earlier this year and grew indoor tomatoes for the first time. I have grown outdoor ones for about 6 years and this year some of them got blight August/September when the weather got wet. The indoor ones were fine until just recently when they showed signs of bl...
