Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

Another sharp frost here again this morning…..made my fingers tingle, picking Purple Sprouting Broccoli for the Sunday feast! When you see the price of Broccoli spears, Tender stem and PSB, they are certainly good money savers….the Tender stem I grew last year, just cropped on and on, so really plea...

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

I have had the same sort of problem, Clive, replaced the petrol pipe on the wheelhorse ride on mower last Summer and had about a foot over….went to replace the petrol pipe on Big Bertha, as either a Rat, or Squirrel had chewed all the way along it…..but do you think I can find where I have put it….

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

Tried keeping off the lawns today, as there were very squelchy……
Had a big Cedar branch to cut up and clear, then repair the chainlink fence, that it had landed on!

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

Afternoon Clive, have all the Snowdrops finished exceptionally early, at Gunby Hall?
There’s barely any flowering here now…looks really strange, still in February and no Snowdrops.

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

We certainly have had a lot more rain, last night and this morning….been running down our little lane for about two months now! This would have only happened, for a couple of days, every few years, up until about five years ago! Been sowing a few more seeds in the glasshouse, a little too early real...

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

Gosh Geoff, you both have had the most awful time….just can’t start to imagine how tough things must have been!
But the news on your Wife, sounds very promising and I wish her all the best.
Really good to hear you have fired the propagator up, too….

Probably something to do with the big variating temperatures they have to go through, Primrose!
Not sure how you can stop this though…..

Re: Lemon Tree

The pests are probably Scale insects….little flat things, that look like they are part of the stem/branch!
If it is Scale insect, you should be able to carefully scrape them off….

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

Another dull and dreary day here….tried doing some hedgecutting for a customer, for a couple of hours but, admitted defeat…..I was soaked and the machines didn’t like getting so wet either!

Maybe tomorrow will be a brighter day….🙂

The only thing I have heard of is, to avoid shredding lots of prunings in a confined area, (shed or building)!

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

Had a busy morning, mossed loads of pots of Hyacinths up and moved some pots of Narcissus from the small back glasshouse, into the big glasshouse, the big one gets more sunlight! Just sown some Beetroot, into some 12 section trays, 4 trays worth….. Now going to sort out some 2 litre pots of Herbaceo...
