Hi Jennifer, I have just mentioned this in another topic (the asthma one) and I agree, all our trees have gone bonkers this year! I too, am hoping for a bumper crop!

worst hayfever ever...

Hello Peter, I really sympathise with your wife, and agree with the GP. I have had the most chronic hayfever that I can remember from mid February and it continues. It has been at it's worst during April and May. To concurr with the Doc, me and my mum have noticed that all the fruit trees on the plo...

what a brilliant idea (d'oh!) I'd never thought of that. Presumably, these cuttings, when grown, will keep cropping until the winter in a heated greenhouse?? here's hoping! :)

Hi David, you should snap these flower stems off as close to the base as you can, and if any more appear , keep removing them. That way, you'll get lots more lovely stems to eat, as the plants energy will concentrate on them, rather than producing flowers and seeds. Hope this helps! retropants

I'm hoping that it has washed all the tree pollen away too, as I am suffering from the worst hayfever EVER. I should buy shares in kleenex

Garden is lovely and shiny though!

Hi Carrie, I'm new here, but getting into the swing of things! I had the same problem a couple of years ago, when I used newspaper and a groovy gadget called a paper potter to make little newspaper pots. I sowed sweetcorn in them, and although they grew, the paper went mouldy. I don't know whether t...

Oh my, what have I started? thankyou all so much for your welcomes (!) I don't really think that we lassies are at all vertically challenged, it just makes it a wee bit tricky when laying 18" square slabs for a patio! Oh, and well done Tigger, I know what you mean, last year I added about 6 ton...

Hello from newbie!

Hello everyone! I have just joined your fab forum recently, after loitering for a while (I'm a bit shy). I may have added to a couple of posts but not been brave enough to introduce myself! I have had an allotment for 14 years, and a garden for nearly 10, which I have spent the last 2 years landscap...

Hi, I remember vaguely that Monty covered this on GW last week or the week before. He said to cut out all the brown, or you'll lose the whole thing. Also, I think he said it was due to the plant sitting in cold damp soil over the winter??? Does this seem like it could be the cause? Sorry to be so va...
