Hi Jennifer, I've just bagged up the quince puree in 1 lb bags. I didn't put sugar in as it gives you more choice of what to do with the puree when you use it. We'll just have to see what it's like when it is defrosted. By the way, the quince cream bake is lovely. I found it didn't set very well unt...

Another thought Jennifer, do you add sugar to the puree before freezing?

Sorry to hear about your upsetting experience.

I must say my first thoughts were not to have any more to do with her, but if you do still want her as a friend, you could always meet her for a shopping trip and lunch, or the theatre, or somewhere on neutral ground that she can't bring her dog.

Thanks for that Jennifer, I was just looking at the bucket of quinces and wondering what to do with them apart from membrillo.

Baked quince cream is now on the menu.

Puncture proof tyres for wheelbarrows

I've already mentioned these on the Tools and Machinery forum, but am so thrilled that I'm posting it here too. My new wheelbarrow tyres have come today. My friend ordered them from B & Q and they have come up with the goods. They are excellent, very easy to fit (to replace the pneumatic tyres o...

I quite agree about the poor content or programmes and ridiculous questions the interviewers ask. Don't know whether it is an age thing but I'm finding myself heckling the presenters!! I also seem to be doing crosswords and reading during some programmes - I do switch it off, but these are the progr...

I always put a sprinkling of slug pellets along the row before I fill it in. I have used one application of Nematodes this year as I bought a large packet half price at Harrogate flower show. Very few potatoes had any damage, and even the Sarpo Axona that I left in until the end of October only had ...

Wheelbarrow tyres that won't puncture.

My friend phoned on Saturday enthusing about a replacement wheelbarrow tyre she had discovered in B & Q. (I was the only person she could think of who would get excited about a wheelbarrow tyre!) They are solid so no punctures, but they are still nice and bouncy. They are called Green tyres and ...

I love to listen to the sounds of nature when I go for walks. Last week my 5 mile walk was accompanied by a couple with a screaming baby in a papoose. I tried to walk faster to leave them behind but they kept catching me up. Then I lagged behind but caught them up when they were changing its nappy i...

Swinging from dangerous rope swings in trees on a high banking and seeing if we could swing out over the stream in a circle and land on our feet back at the other side without plunging down the banking into the stream. What fun! The other good sport was "sledging" on a piece of cardboard d...

Ordering Plants with no space to plant them!

I've done it again. Just remembered I've ordered some new strawberry plants, a gooseberry and a new blackcurrant bush, and looking round the garden have no idea where they are going to fit.

Does anyone else do this?

I suppose I could chuck something out.

Hi Johnboy, Your assessment of DEFRA just about sums up most government bodies I think. Dad's philosophy seemed a good idea - "Behave in a responsible way, mind your own business, and don't have anything to do with authority in any shape or form or common sense will go out of the window"

There's an infants' school within ear-shot of my house and I've noticed that they are particularly wild, noisy and rush about screaming, when it is windy. There does seem to be a trend for them all to shout over one another instead of speaking to each other. I wonder if they are all deaf? I'm sure m...
