Why is it that..........
snails like to live in the spouts of watering cans?Sod's Law whenever I want to use one of my cans there will be a,soon to be dead, snail in the spout blocking it.Out with a garden cane,poke the snail into the can,tip it out,tread on it .Dead.The total is mounting up!!!

Thanks everyone for your replies and suggestions.My beef is the p&p costs anything from £4-99 to £6-99 which almost doubles the price of buying the sets.I shall wait and see what the local Garden Centres have to offer when,or if,they have them in stock.If not then it is a packet of Zebrune seed ...

And check with the local Council that it doesn't have a Tree Preservation Order(TPO)on it.If it has then that will restrict you in doing what you want to do and will need permission from the Council to do anything except cut down any dead branches. The other problem is the local tree-hugging do-good...

Never grown these shallots and would like to have a go with them next season.Any Forumite know of a supplier of sets at a reasonable price?The best price I have found so far is £7.99 plus p&p at a silly cost for 20 sets.

If your Pumpkins/Squash have cross-pollinated then I would suggest that it will show up in the seed,if you save it for next year,and not in this season's fruit.

After a slow start, lifting early potatoes and picking broad beans.All the other crops are doing well.I may get a late harvest but I am well pleased with the way things are going at the moment

One of the lads on the site has devoted half his plot to growing wild flowers so in consequnce every other plot on the site is growing self sown poppies and borage.Great for the pollinators!
