Re: NHS Dentists in Scotland?

Hi Colin, It is a fine line between mental health, anxiety, personality disorder & several others. I spent a couple of days out with the Mental Health Team, which was enlightening as we thought they were being a little bit obstructive at times & contributing to blocked beds & assaults on...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Things went to plan today, well actually even better than I expected. Tunnel tidied & put everything back in the shed or wherever it should be. I just couldn't be bothered getting wet all the time! Beds are all dug & fed & the supports put up for the tomatoes, well tied to the top frame ...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Hi Barney, I did find peat a much better medium to grow in, but I have to admit finally the peat free has improved, not the same but way better than their first attempts. Is it worth having a chat to them regarding taking all their peat, it would be a win/win for you both then, they will not get stu...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Nature is really not playing fair - another named storm! Looks like we might miss Kathleen & hopefully you will as well Barney. I have flipped the chores a bit for the weekend as it occurred to me the tunnel is going to be way warmer than the back bedroom & fluctuate more, so just taking the...

Re: NHS Dentists in Scotland?

Hi Colin, Our administrators are literally just directed to do something which is more along the lines or keeping records, cancelling appointments etc. . Each speciality has a senior nurse manager/matron & named consultants & ward sisters who are the decision makers when times get rough, whi...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

The farmers must be already struggling with getting straw now at a decent price as a lot of their animals are having a prolonged stay under cover. If it ever stops raining at least the grass should be long & green, but suspect some will not have survived being underwater for so long. Notice how ...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Had an unusual day yesterday as we got our allotment bills. We usually get them after Xmas but the council wants us to go by the financial year to match the rest of their billing stuff, so 15 months to pay just this once. It was more expensive because of this but did not go up. Let's just say folk w...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

If you throw holly leaves on beds frequented by cats they will find another place. The leaves curl up as they dry & they prickle their feet, also plastic forks with the tines up dissuade them. Went down to the plot today as looking grim for the next few days...when will this rain & wind stop...

Re: solar irrigation system

I looked at one that will run off the water butts but totally confused with the solar set up, so I just got a soaker hose in the end & it works fine, but the water butts have to be high up on pavers or on a stand. It's flow is just regulated by the tap on the water butt & it is curved around...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Weather not quite as predicted, but quite nice on the plot, just a bit chilly. I did get the 2nd earlies in & the sweet peas. Fixed the arch over the path for them but feel this might be the arches' last year, but for the price it has stood up well but I did paint all the joins as rust starts in...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Weather played really nicely today & I have got all the brassica's in & netted. I have way too many as got too impatient waiting for them to come up, & did 2nd sows but I think I can live with that but they are taking . This took all morning though, a lot of that time trying to put the t...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

When the wind & rain disappears the sun actually has a lot of warmth, & the weekend weather is still saying I will get to experience it for the next 2 days. I just know I will over do it tomorrow & Sunday, but just got to take the opportunity when it comes! Had no e-mail from the committ...

Re: NHS Dentists in Scotland?

No matter where you live in the UK we should all be trying really hard to support the health service, including dental care. Bevan created an institute that is still revered around the world & adapted by many countries even though some tweaks made the ethos was pretty close. It is crumbling in f...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Well they didn't exaggerate with the gales & rain today! I don't think the gales were registered spectacular from the Needles records, but certainly more regular & consistent than some previous big blows. Some issues with the consistent rainfall with trees down & flooding in the area but...

Re: Solar Pest Repeller

Interesting & there will be disappointed people out there. I am signed onto Lidl Plus only because one of the staff helped me as I couldn't get it to load & she was just going on break. I have never used it as I don't take my handbag or phone into the shop, just grab the card & shopping ...
